Mission
Ann Hobson Pilot is now at the conclusion of a remarkable career, a career that has spanned over 4 decades as associate and principal harpist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, world-renowned solo performing and recording artist and professor of the harp. Her compelling story of how a young African American musician overcame both racial and gender barriers to become one of the leading classical harpists in the world must not be lost but passed on to future generations. Executive producer, Susan Dangel, will produce a documentary which will be aired on PBS stations nationwide.
In addition to recounting and exploring
Ann's career, the film will include both rehearsal and performance footage of the upcoming BSO concerts in which Ann performs the premier of a John Williams concerto composed in her honor, James Levine conducting. We believe that this will be a film of musical, cultural, and historical significance, and one that will be of particular educational value to younger generations of color.
